Running for Lives: Sebastian and Rian's Barcelona Marathon
Donation protected
On March 16, 2025, Sebastian Van Wijmeersch, a passionate runner from Ghent living in Prague, ran the Barcelona Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Impacto Bolivia, a nonprofit foundation tackling the urgent need for safe and reliable blood donations in Bolivia.

This cause is deeply personal to Sebastian, as Impacto Bolivia was founded by his close friend of 12 years, Rian Hoorelbeke. With the generous sponsorship of Moonland, a data consulting startup, this campaign aims to transform blood donation culture in Bolivia.
The Project: Digitalization & Education
In Bolivia, blood shortages and reliance on replacement donations put lives at risk. Impacto Bolivia’s twofold approach addresses this challenge:
- Digitalization: A cloud-based system to track and manage voluntary donors, ensuring a steady, safe blood supply.
- Education: School programs to inspire young people to become lifelong donors, fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation.

How You Can Help
- Donate: Every contribution brings us closer to saving lives.
- Share: Spread the word to amplify our impact.
- Follow along: I’ll share my live tracking code during the run and post highlights on this page. Join me on this journey!
Let’s celebrate Sebastian’s marathon by contributing to this vital cause. Together, we can save lives and create lasting change in Bolivia!
