Running to beat Brain Cancer

Tax deductible
I will be running my first marathon (and most likely last!) later this year. The race is the Marine Corps Marathon and will take place in the DMV area on 10/29/2023. My goal is to complete this run in just under 4 hours but may move my target to 3 hours and 45 minutes, depending on the success of my training and this gofundme page!

When Lauren and I discussed the race, we decided that this could be a productive time to ask for donations to an organization near and dear to our heart, the American Brain Tumor Association.

Lauren's father, John Edward Brettell, lost his battle with brain cancer 25 years ago. Brain cancer has the 3rd lowest five-year survival estimate, just behind mesothelioma and pancreatic cancer. Despite a late diagnosis, Lauren's father fought long and hard, and far surpassed all predictions made by his incredible medical team. Will you join us in honoring John's life and help raise money to fight the good fight?

The mission of the American Brain Tumor Association is to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis. They do this through interactions and engagements with brain tumor patients and their families, collaborations with allied groups and organizations, and the funding of brain tumor research.
