Running for WAGEC
One woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner in Australia.
The Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre, or WAGEC, works to create safe spaces for women and families who are impacted by issues such as domestic and family violence, financial hardship, homelessness, mental illness and addiction.
WAGEC provides a support centre where women can access support, basic necessities and amenities, as well as material and social assistance.
Each night, WAGEC provides accomodation to 200 women and children.
But WAGEC relies on community support to provide the services they do. Therefore, this coming September I’ll be running in the Blackmore’s Sydney Marathon. To help get me across the line, I’m hoping that my friends and family might sponsor me by raising donations for WAGEC.
Your donation will have an immediate and meaningful impact on the wellbeing of women and children in crises.
I’m really proud to be supporting their work. If you’d like to know more about what they do, there’s loads of information on their website (https://www.wagec.org.au/). I'd also really recommend reading some of the stories from their blog. (https://www.wagec.org.au/blog/).
Thank you!
