Running London Marathon for Brighton Table Tennis Club ❤️

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be running the London Marathon on Sunday, April 21st, after some issues with ongoing injuries I have decided to continue my journey and fulfil this gift of a ballot place that was bestowed on me! So that all my hard work and training does not go to waste, I’m dedicating my efforts to Brighton Table Tennis Club (BTTC).

Brighton Table Tennis Club—a haven nestled in the heart of our community. Last year, my partner Darren received an invitation—an intriguing challenge: parkrunniest parkrunner versus the most victorious table tennis player. Curiosity led us through the club’s doors, and what we discovered there transcended a mere sports club.

The air hummed with energy—the rhythmic bounce of balls, the laughter of children, and the fierce determination of every player. But it wasn’t just about table tennis. No, it was about dreams taking flight, resilience woven into every serve, and hope etched on young faces. My heart melted almost immediately. These kids—they weren’t just paddling balls; they were navigating life’s currents. Some carried dreams of championships, while others sought refuge from adversity.

Brighton Table Tennis Club became their sanctuary—a place where victories weren’t just about points scored but about overcoming odds.

Why BTTC Matters
BTTC was founded in February 2007 by Tim Holtam, the heartbeat behind the club, with just two worn-out tables in the Brighton Youth Centre. His passion is contagious. But from those humble beginnings, it has blossomed into something truly remarkable. Here’s why I’m passionate about supporting this incredible club:

1. Community Transformation: BTTC believes that table tennis can be a powerful tool for engaging people of all ages and transforming lives. They’ve created a vibrant community where everyone is welcome, regardless of age, ability, or background.

2. Inspiring Youngsters: The work BTTC does with youngsters in the community is awe-inspiring. It’s heart warming to see how they nurture talent, build confidence, and create a sense of belonging.

3. A Family Away from Home: BTTC feels like stepping back in time—a place where community spirit thrives. It’s more than a sports club; it’s a family away from home.

My Marathon Journey
This will be my first marathon, and perhaps my last, given the injuries I’ve faced during training. But the determination to succeed drives me forward. The finish line awaits, not just for me but for Brighton Table Tennis Club. Every pound raised is a rally, a serve, a victory. My legs may get tired, but my determination won’t, because running for something bigger than yourself, has more purpose.

Join Me in Making a Difference
Your donation, no matter how small, will contribute to the magic of BTTC. It’ll help keep the club running at its full potential, possibly expanding to other communities. It’ll support the people who rely on the club and cherish their time there. Let’s keep the community spirit alive and ensure that every child, every player, feels the warmth of belonging.
