Running Southampton Marathon for Dementia UK & CLAPA
Donation protected
On the 6th April 2025 I'll be running the Southampton Marathon, my first ever marathon and one I'm excited to take on in aid of two fantastic causes - one in memory of my late Grandad and one that helped me as child.
In October 2024, my Grandad - Aggie as we called him - sadly passed away after his battle with dementia. It was tougher than I could imagine to lose my first grandparent but it really shed light on the horrible condition that impacts over 1 in 11 people over the age of 65 in the UK.
The money raised in his memory will help provide important care for others and their families living with all forms of dementia.
I'd also like to give back to a charity that helped me and my parents when I was born by splitting the funds with the Cleft Lip & Palate Association. Having a child with a cleft lip and palate came with many challenges as first time parents for them, but CLAPA offer support and care to guide them through the process.
The money raised for them will help provide similar support for new parents now, as well as people growing up and living with all forms of cleft lip/palate combinations.
Any donations would be much appreciated for two causes very close to both me and my family.
Tom :)
