Running the Tokyo Marathon 2025 for good cause

Hi! My name is Denis Paulce and I will be running Tokyo Marathon in 2025.

I was very fortunate to secure a spot with the Japan IDDM Network charity.
Japan IDDM Network is a nonprofit organization that aims to help people living with Type 1 Diabetes.
What is type 1 diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes is a disease caused mainly by autoimmunity. The lymphocytes in your body cause a civil war, and you will get sick by destroying most of your own insulin factory and pancreatic island β cells in the pancreas.

It's not a lifestyle-related disease or a congenital disease, and it's rare for many people to get sick in the same family. There are many cases where past viral infections have triggered civil disturbances in lymphocytes, but since it is an autoimmune disease and it is not an infection, type 1 diabetes will not be transmitted to others.

If you develop type 1 diabetes, you will not be able to make insulin in your body. Without insulin, glucose (glucose) cannot be taken into the cells, and glucose will overflow in the blood vessels (high blood sugar). Glucose is important as an energy source for cells, but if the high blood sugar state continues, it accumulates in the walls of blood vessels in various ways, leading to complications unique to diabetes.

Therefore, in type 1 diabetes, treatment other than continuing to inject insulin self-injection or a medical device called insulin pump several times every day for the rest of your life while undergoing pancreatic transplant or islet transplantation, or blood sugar measurement There is no. Unlike type 2 diabetes, which is generally recognized as diabetes and accounts for more than 90% of diabetes patients in Japan, supplementation with insulin is an essential disease.

The annual incidence rate of Japanese children is about 2 per 100,000 people, which is said to be about 1/30 compared to Nordic countries.

In addition to being an unexplained intractable disease that occurs at any age, mainly in childhood, if you do not treat it strictly, complications such as heart, kidney, eyes, nerves will occur, etc., so not only the pain of the patient himself, but also mental and economic for the patient's family The target burden is huge.

It would bring me joy to play a part in helping all of those who are affected by diabetes.
Running is now my passion. It is at the center of everything I do and enjoy. I push myself constantly and my goal is to be able to run all over the world. The idea of spreading awareness, delivering funding and continuing to combat the limitations of diabetes is now my dream.

I need your help to make this happen!
I would love to provide as much funding as I can, while at the same time having a unique and a truly special experience.
Any size donation is extremely appreciated and this journey means the world to me.
