Running To Honor Veterans
Hi there,
I recently registered to run the Boston Marathon on April 20th. I am running to honor and recognize our veterans by fundraising on behalf of the Veteran’s Celebration Committee of Hopkinton. This committee hosts various events honoring veterans throughout the year including a Memorial Day Parade, a Veteran’s Day dinner, and the ongoing maintenance and flagging of veterans grave stones. The marathon is a primary fundraising activity for this committee and it’s a privilege to be running on their behalf. We all know veterans past and present. I was lucky enough to get to know my uncle, a survivor of Pearl Harbor and the Pacific, when I lived in Los Angeles during my 20’s. I saw the influence these experiences had on how he lived his life. He never forgot and neither should we.
Please help recognize our veterans by making a donation. My goal is to raise $5,000 and I will submit all donations to the committee as a single payment after the race.
My family and I grew up watching my Dad run this marathon (too many times to count). I’m excited for him to watch me run my first as I raise money for a great cause. My training is under way and in high gear. I run and my puppy just sleeps pressed against the wall. It’s good to be a dog! I completed my second half marathon, and last warm run, over MLK weekend so now the real fun of training during winter in Boston begins :)
Thank you for your support, donations, and help in recognizing our veterans.
