Running to Support Maui

Tax deductible
Hi, my name is Peter, but a lot of my friends call me Felix. By now, I’m sure many of you have heard about the devastating wildfires that damaged communities across Maui. As I watched the heart-wrenching news, I couldn’t help but wonder what I could do to help those affected.

Growing up, I had the great fortune of spending time on the island, visiting from the mainland every few years with my family. Almost every trip included a stop in Lahaina, the royal capital of Hawaiʻi, where I read books in the Lahaina Public Library, rested under the town's historic banyan tree, conversed with and befriended locals, and participated in the Front Street 5K.

Goal
My goal is to raise at least $1,000 for the Maui Food Bank by December 10, 2023, when I plan on running the Honolulu Marathon. This will be my first marathon, and I am excited to run for a cause that means so much to me.

There is a saying in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, the Hawaiian language, that I love: "He poʻi na kai uli, kai koʻo, ʻaʻohe hina pūkoʻa." Though the sea is deep and rough, the coral rock remains standing. Please join me in my goal to help the affected communities stand strong in the face of adversity.

All funds raised directly support the Maui Food Bank. With every $1 donated, the Maui Food Bank can provide four meals to the hungry living on the island.
