Running Lady Studios' Simulator

Hi!  I'm K. DaVette See and I, along with my husband/partner Robert See, own and operate the animation studio, Running Lady Studios. 


From 2008 to 2013, RLS worked with a diverse group of talented 3D artists, voice actors, puppeteers, and production staff to create animated shorts ranging from commercials to industrials to comedies to social satire.  You can read more about us on our blog and  Facebook .  For a look at some of our work, please check out our YouTube Channel here .

Though we had a number of productions in the works in 2013, we made the decision to shelve all our “in development” projects in order to tend to urgent personal matters. We always intended to start up again when the time was right, and in October of this year we ended our hiatus by readying several projects for production in 2017.  As a warm up, since we were energized by recent events, we shot the election-inspired dramedy/satire, "The Hindsight Zone: Once Upon a Time in November ”, which was released on election day on YouTube.

A critical part of our production process involves leasing an exclusive-use simulator, or “sim”, located on Linden Labs’ servers.  This gives us complete control of our filming environment and allows us to limit access to our production team only.  Both of these features are invaluable during production.  While filming “November”, we didn’t have access to our simulator and the associated eight years of accumulated assets. This led to disruptions during filming, delays due to slow servers, the need to buy replacement assets, and the necessity of negotiating time, space, and access to other privately-leased simulators.

Put simply, we have a virtual studio lot with a warehouse full of digital inventory that we can't access.

Which brings us to our GoFundMe campaign. We have two campaign goals:

1. Raise $885.00 to pay for the sim rental for the last quarter of 2016 (October - December) as soon as possible and no later than December 31, 2016.  This will allow us to reestablish server access and reactivate the associated inventory accounts immediately with no loss of inventory.  As we are looking at a late January release of a sequel to "November”, this portion of the campaign is URGENT.

2. Raise an additional $3540.00 for the 2017 sim lease period by January 31, 2017.

Now, here’s where you come in. We can afford to fund the rest of many costs associated with the productions ourselves, but it will help us immeasurably to have your assistance in regaining access to our simulator and retaining it throughout 2017.  With your help getting us up and running again (Get it? Running?), we can restart  production on our projects in earnest.

We have new projects including two YouTube-based web series: a Young Adult sci-fi/fantasy scheduled to begin production in the spring, and a semi-autobiographical period dramedy series beginning production in early fall. We also will continue our very successful artistic partnership with NYC-based Virtual Girl Productions in producing more socio/political satire in what is turning out to be a target rich environment!

Now, if your next question is “What’s in it for me?”, we’re glad you asked!  Of course, there’s the good karma and that warm glow that comes from being a patron of the arts!  But what about the afterglow?
