#RuntoK in the NYC Marathon
Donation protected
For any parent, you know the birth of a child can inspire you, motivate you to take on a goal you thought was insurmountable. That happened to me with the birth of my second son, Kaleo. When he was born in January, I set a goal to run 1000 miles in 2018.
Some days, I didn’t feel like running and started to think, whether I run 1000 or 100 miles, my newborn baby won’t care. But, one person did take notice, my oldest son, Kekoah. He would ask me, even if I wasn’t in running gear, “Are you going to run?” If I wasn’t before, I would then. Eventually, my wife, Kadie would ask the same question, “What time are you running?”.
So, after the first 100 or so miles, I began sharing my journey through social media, by posting a recap of my run with the hashtag #RuntoK - The K representing - Kadie, Kekoah, Kaleo and also 1000.
Recently, around 700 miles in, my buddy Nick Youngquest, invited me to run in the NYC Marathon, with Team For Kids’ Team. I was floored because I started out running this year as a promise to Kaleo. To have the opportunity to not only run in the NYC Marathon, but to potentially hit that 1000 mile mark while my “K”s look on would be a dream come true. And that’s why I need your help.
In order for me to fulfill my obligation as a member of TFK, I need to raise $2500. Team For Kids is an organization that gives children in NYC an opportunity to participate in running as a sport, often times being the only outlet of exercise for a lot of children.
The other portion of donations will go towards completing my dream of getting Kadie, Kekoah, and Kaleo to New York City so they can be there when I cross the finish line.
