Rural School Alliance—Ferrisburgh Chapter
Donation protected
The Rural School Alliance (RSA) was formed within days immediately following the August 25th announcement of the ANWSD and School Board's intent to close our elementary school in June 2020. RSA is a group of concerned community members who are devoted to the empowerment and preservation of our small rural schools. In an effort to educate ourselves and our community, the RSA has been working determinedly over the past two months on the following incentives:
- To fully investigate other options to school closure, and alternative school models.
- To examine the school budget, find the missing money and explanations for misleading projections.
-To campaign and keep the community engaged in the discussion.
-To communicate openly with the school board, select boards, teachers and community members.
-To fact check all information that comes from the school board and administration and hold them accountable for their actions.
To date, members of RSA have spent over $2000 on printing, postage, signage, Educational Lawyer fees and more—an investment made happily. Without RSA advocating for our kids and our town, the school board will have sole authority to shut us down with no regard for our best interests.
This is just the beginning of the road in finding a viable, lasting solution for our school, our town, and our district. In order to sustain these efforts, we are asking our greater community to help support us!
Funds for the RSA—Ferrisburgh Chapter will go towards:
-Legal Fees
-Mailers
-Postage
-Signage
-Research and Development for alternative educational models and teacher support: place-based learning, sustainability curriculum, etc.
Thank you so much for your support! When our school thrives, we thrive.
