Russell and Co Solicitors’ Charity Inflatable 5K Challenge

Russell and Co Solicitors’ charity for 2024 is Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). As part of our fundraising efforts, 12 staff members will be taking part in the Inflatable 5K Challenge in Cheltenham in October.

Why CALM? Sadly, our colleague, Kim, knows only too well of the devastating impact it has when a loved one takes their own life. Kim has kindly agreed to share Dean's story:-

"On September 30th 2020 my son Dean succumbed to the awful illness that is depression and sadly took his own life. He truly believed the world would be a better place without him, but he could not have been more wrong. He has left a gaping hole in all of our hearts, and we so wish he could have seen himself the way that we saw him. Suicide has a devastating effect on everyone close to that person especially their family and my family’s life will never be the same again Every week 125 people take their own lives with 75% of all UK suicides being male. Dean fought with his mind every day. He would do anything for anyone but was too ashamed to ask for help himself. He saw his battle as a weakness. CALM exists to change this and is leading a movement against suicide. It’s too late to help Dean but hopefully the charity can help others from getting to this stage."
