Russell Childress Funeral, Medical Expense &Bills
Donation protected
My dad Russell Childress passed away Sunday, November 6th, unexpectedly. Russell was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which spread to his lungs, kidneys and bones in late July of this year. He had a port installed August 4th and began chemotherapy treatments at the Regional Cancer Care Associates LLC, Monday, August 8th and would continue to receive treatments every 2 weeks. After his first few appointments, my dad was feeling surprisingly well and increasingly optimistic the treatments were working and he began driving himself to treatments. He was feeling good and would make frequent visits to the popcorn zoo with my mom to get some fresh air and activity.
Immediately after his diagnosis my dad panicked, not just because the realization that he would not get to see his grandbabies grow up but because he as he said, "did not have his sh*t together" and feared where that would leave my mom after his passing. If you know our family, you were likely over for a meal, or to swim in the pool, to jump on the trampoline, or just sit down and chat with my mom for some comfort and neighborhood gossip.
In an effort to save money my parents immediately got rid of their pool and began cutting out unnecessary expenses where they could and focused on trying to pay down bills. My dad asked me to make sure that my mom was always taken care of, as she was always his highest priority. If you have the means to donate anything, my mom (and dad) would greatly appreciate it. The funds donated would be put towards his funeral expenses, medical expenses and basic bills while my mom figures out where income will be coming from. My dad handled the finances and never got the chance to sit with my mom to go over everything.
If you cannot donate monetary, dropping off a meal or even sharing a kind message and checking in on my mom would be greatly appreciated.
Russell enjoyed his family and friends, BBQing, walking around the popcorn zoo and especially spending time with his grandbabies.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story. <3
