In Memory of Russell Carter Feller

Hello! My name is Jenn Smith, I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my aunt & uncle, Janell & Russell Feller.
…
In the beginning of January, Russ visited his doctor for a respiratory infection he had been struggling with for months. An x-ray showed that he had a collapsed lung and significant accumulation of fluid in his chest. The fluid was drained and sent for testing.
The results came back positive for Stage 4 Lung Cancer. Additional testing revealed that the cancer had metastasized to other areas of his body, including his stomach and lymph nodes. While there is no cure for this specific type of cancer, there is an option for chemotherapy. There is hope.
On January 22nd, Russ suffered a stroke at home. He was rushed to the hospital and cared for in the ICU. The stroke left him with right-sided weakness and difficulties with swallowing.
Despite the set-backs he’s faced, Russ & Janell are committed to fighting the progression of this cancer. At the end of the month, Russ had his first chemotherapy session. This treatment will continue over the next 4 months.
In addition to chemotherapy, Russ is receiving frequent in-home visits from Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Therapists to aid his recovery from the stroke. He also has routine home-health visits from a hospice nurse to drain the fluid that continues to accumulate in his chest. He is cared for around the clock by Janell.
My hope with this fundraiser is to ease their financial burden so they can focus on healing and recovery.
Russ & Janell have spent their lifetime devoted to serving others. You’ve likely been the recipient of their selfless charity. This season of asking for and receiving help is humbling for them. Together, we can return the kindness & generosity they have so graciously shared with their family, friends, community, and church over the years.
Thank you in advance for all of your generosity, support, and prayers.
