Rutabagas New HOME!!!

Donation protected
***MAY 25, 2023 UPDATE****
After searching high and low for a food truck to call my own, I have exhausted all my options. Unfortunately, my pockets just are not deep enough to secure one! So, I am pivoting the business concept, and going back to doing what I do best... welcoming people into my brick and mortar restaurant. We are scheduled to open and host our GRAND (re)OPENING August 2023. Our new home is located at 854 S 70th Street - 70th + Vine, in the Meadowlane Shopping Center.

Before we can open though, we need to raise money for the following:

Gas Range with double ovens, flat top and gas burners
tables and chairs
sandwich prep coolers
ice maker/bin

Any and all donations make a difference and add up - and please consider sharing far and wide within your own network!

Donations $500 or more - as my way of saying thank you for your generosity, I will invite you and 10 of your friends into our new space to host a private party!
Donations of $250 or more - you (or your business) will be acknowledged and thanked on signage throughout our new home!

INITIAL GO FUND ME CALL TO ACTION - JANUARY 2023:

I’m Sara, the owner/chef/bookkeeper/dishwasher/errand runner/dreamer of Rutabagas, Lincoln’s only woman-owned vegan food concept.

I signed a lease for my very own restaurant space just weeks before anyone had ever heard the word COVID. We fought to keep the doors open and lights on for 18 long hard months. Despite many of our peers around us receiving government pandemic funding, we did not qualify, and painfully had to close our doors.

However, that was not the end of Rutabagas. Just the opportunity to begin a new chapter. My dear friend Nick (owner of Muchachos, and staunch supporter of smoking veggies anytime I ask him to) has graciously allowed me to toodle around town in his bright teal food truck, to see if the truck’r life is for me. Oh my gosh we’ve had so much fun popping up at music festivals, apple jack festivals, vendor fairs, parks, schools, neighborhoods, businesses and more.
We’ve given it our all these last four months, and really believe that this truck’r life IS FOR US! It’s for YOU and ME (and my daughters, whose first jobs have been learning how to scrape a flat top inside a food truck).

I’ve lost a lot of things over the last 18 months, but what I’ve never lost is the love and steadfast commitment of my loyal supporters and friends.

So, I’m asking you to support my dream of putting some wheels on Rutabagas and in turn, I’ll keep filling your belly and nourishing your soul.

Every $5, $15, $50 donation adds up. And if a monetary donation isn’t in the stars for you right now, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family, and sending all the well wishes you can.

Lastly, (but maybe most importantly), if you happen to be in the position of investing in Rutabagas continued growth on a larger scale, I’m open to those discussions as well, and you can find my email on my website (not allowed to post it here due to phishing… silly internet) to get the convo started.

xoxo,
sara (and Emma + Bella + Mac, and my dad Roy)
