A Rainbow for Ruth Belle Waymire

Donation protected

I created this GoFundMe because we are asking for a headstone for then, 24-year-old Ruth Belle Waymire, to assist in putting her to rest after she lost her life to a vicious homicide, dismemberment and rape.
Her true identity (originally "Mille Doe", now Ruth Belle Waymire) was just discovered in 2023. She has a burial spot but she desperately needs a headstone.

Who I Am and Why I am Doing this Fundraiser for Ruth
  • My name is Franci L. and even though I am a stranger to Ruth, I created Ruth's GoFundMe entitled, "A Rainbow for Ruth" after I heard Ruth's story and the request to help find her a headstone. I felt I had to do something, anything, to help change her ending into something more deserving
  • The meaning of a Rainbow is hope and new beginnings. I felt Ruth deserved a new beginning inclusive of dignity and love from her community. No one deserved what happened to her

Why Ruth Needs Financial Assistance from the Community
  • Most of Ruth's family have passed away. The few who remain, are not able to assist financially but have helped in many other important ways
  • Ruth was provided a gravesite in the Potter's Field at the beautiful Fairmount Cemetery at 5200 W Wellesley in Spokane, WA. Unfortunately, there are no longer Potter's Field markers for graves
  • I have included the least expensive and most modest headstone pricing from Fairmount Cemetery and we were provided a discount for her Preservation-style headstone from Fairmount Cemetery

How Ruth was Found after the Homicide (**May be Graphic for Some**)
  • Ruth's unidentifiable torso was found floating in the water on June 20, 1984 under the TJ Meenach Bridge in Spokane, WA by individuals fishing (Wikipedia)
  • Also in Spokane, WA, on April 19th, 1998, in an abandoned parking lot at 7th and Sherman, Ruth's missing skull was found by a female walking her dog (Wikipedia)
  • Officials have never located her hands or feet (Wikipedia)
