RVA Community Fridges
Donation protected
We are a small group of BIPOC community organizers putting together our efforts to start the first community fridges in Virginia right here in Richmond, VA! A community fridge is meant to provide free food to the community and is based on donations from within the community including individuals and businesses. Our hope is to promote equal access to healthy food options including fresh produce as well as reduce food waste, insecurity, and foster a sense of mutual aid amongst our community. Our first fridge will be placed in Union Hill within Richmond (at Pomona Plants!), and we plan to put up more fridges throughout Virginia! We are currently in the middle stages of this project and are looking for businesses to partner with as we look for the right spots for the fridges and seek donations on a regular basis. This fundraiser will help us with start-up costs including supplies for the installation, maintenance of the fridges, as well as provide revenue for groceries to supplement donations. We are excited to see this community resource come to life and thrive as we support each other through mutual aid. Thank you all for your support, we couldn’t make this happen without you!
