RVC Winterbike Needs Better Gear!
Donation protected
River Valley Cycling loves what Winterbike has become in Fredericton. We love that what started informally with just a few trails and a handful of winter riders has grown to include more than 40 km of groomed singletrack at 3 trailheads with plans for even more in the future. Our volunteer club groomers love packing and shaping snow - making the perfect flowy frozen ride! More than 150 riders took out a membership in 2021 and our trails were enjoyed by snowshoers, skiers, and trail runners all winter long.
While our grooming team seems to never tire we sadly can't say the same things about the sleds that drag the grooming gear. It's a hard life being a vintage workhorse sled. These days the reliability of the equipment is an issue. Mechanical breakdowns means that our volunteers are spending time finding spare parts and improvising solutions that they'd rather spend grooming. Let's help them!
We'd like to find $5,000 by January 15, 2022 in order to invest in some upgrades. We're not looking for the latest flimsy lightweight racing skidoo... but a new-to-us workhorse that is nimble enough to sneak between trees and strong enough to part deep powder. We'd like to do this all without raising any membership fees because we know keeping Winterbike affordable is important. Let's do this!
