Aloha,
It's hard to ask for help, everyone keeps telling us how gofundme is such a blessing. Our son Keona (God's gracious gift) was born on Sunday, February 8th. He is our ekolu Keiki (3rd baby), at the time of his birth, Kua and I didn't notice anything different although his doctor did. At first, they noticed he had a heart murmur. There were other little things that were different as well... Keona had no voice, no cry, he was a little blue around his mouth and finger tips. Both of my other children had been heavy at birth while Keona barely made 6 lbs. His pediatrician, checked on his murmur day 2 of his life which he informed us that something didn't sound right which made him order a chest ultrasound/xray. He sent it over to Kapiolani's cardiologist where we received foreign news, our son had been diagnosed with TOF (Tetrology of Fallot).

Tetralogy of Fallot is a birth defect of the heart consisting of four abnormalities that results in insufficiently oxygenated blood pumped to the body. It is classified as a cyanotic heart defect because the condition leads to cyanosis, a bluish-purple coloration to the skin, and shortness of breath due to low oxygen levels in the blood. Surgery to repair the defects in the heart is usually performed between 3 and 5 years old. In more severe forms, surgery may be indicated earlier. In most cases the heart can be surgically corrected and the outcome is good.

We had been medivac to Kapiolani where we stayed by his side for a week in NICU. Test after test, making sure our little man would be okay enough to breathe on his own. They informed me that we are "lucky", he is considered a "pink tet." We'll take wherever "luck" comes our way.

Keona will undergo open heart surgery as he nears 11 lbs, well within the first year of his life.

Not to sure how to say this, but his medical bills are sky rocking and we still have not done the surgery which will require us to fly to San Diego where he'll get the best medical attention. If there is anyway you could help us, we very much appreciate your love. Prayers are more important.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for praying for our baby. Donations come last, believe me asking is tough... and not like Kua and I.
