RWU Members Appeal for Hardship Scholarships
Tax deductible
Please help us fundraise $3,000 by April 1, 2024 to help send members to our Railroad Workers United Biennial Convention and Labor Notes Conference in Chicago in April!
As our biennial convention approaches, we are eager to ensure that all our members can be a part of this enriching experience. The 9th Biennial RWU Convention will be held in Chicago, April 18-19th, alongside the esteemed Labor Notes conference, April 19th - 21st. It promises to be an incredible opportunity for networking, learning, and strengthening our organization.
However, we understand that many of our dedicated members might struggle financially to attend such a significant event. The total cost of the convention, including registration, accommodation, and travel can exceed the budget of some of us. This financial burden can be especially challenging for those members who have been furloughed, suspended, or fired, those who have suffered an injury or who are currently facing other forms of financial hardship.
That's why we are appealing to compassionate individuals like yourself. We believe that no member should miss out on this transformative event due to financial limitations. We have come up with a solution to make attending the convention more accessible to all – offering a 50/50 match for our members who might not otherwise be able to afford the trip.
Our goal is to raise $3000 through this fundraising campaign to establish scholarships for those who need it most. Your generous donation will not only make it possible for members to attend this important Convention and conference, but will enable their connect with like-minded individuals, gain valuable knowledge, and play a more effective role in their organizing on the job.
A contribution of $75 will cover the cost of one full RWU Convention Registration, while $140 will cover one Labor Notes registration fee, and $250 would cover a couple nights lodging. We appreciate any level of support, and we encourage you to share this appeal with your network to help us reach as many potential donors as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this request. Your generosity has the potential to make a significant difference in the lives of our members who are facing financial struggles. Together, let's ensure that every voice is heard and that the RWU Convention remains an inclusive and empowering event for all.
