TOGETHER WE FIGHT!!!

On January 2, 2024 my mom Wendy (56) went to the ER for back and stomach pain. After getting a CT scan doctors discovered a large tumor on her liver, kidneys stones, and gallstones. After further testing, we were told very devastating news that the tumor on her liver was indeed cancerous. Before treatment doctors decided to remove her gallbladder because it’s been causing her several problems and so she could heal properly. While in surgery they discovered the tumor was all over her gallbladder, which was a shock to all because the CT did not show that. She was then diagnosed with stage 4 Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Gallbladder (which happens in only 3% of gallbladder cancers) that has metastasized (spread) to her liver. This is a very aggressive, and rare type of cancer. This has all been so devastating and painful for everyone involved. We have all been trying to stay positive despite this very sad situation.

Today, February 14th she is healed from gallbladder removal surgery and started her first round of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. She’s in okay spirits but it’s starting to take a toll on her mental health. No one should have to make the decision whether to fight or give up because of finances.

With insurance this is going to be a very rough and expensive road. We don’t have the time or finances to meet her deductible in time to cover treatments and other medical expenses.
