In Carl's Memory

Hi, my name is Kristen and I am Carl Jones sister in law. Carl was met with an unexpected cancer diagnosis after seeing something wrong in CT scan following complications from a hernia surgery in March of 2021. Nothing could be done to start fighting his cancer until his abdominal infection cleared up. After about 2 weeks of hospital stay...and several more weeks of intense antibiotics, the abdominal infection was gone. Time to start finding out what exactly was wrong. Carl was officially diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma in his left kidney that had metasticized to abdominal lymph nodes. Calcium levels in his blood were off...which sent him back to the hospital for another few days. In October of 2021 he started chemo therapy...18 treatments. He finished chemo in March of 2022. Lymph nodes were looking better, but the cancer was still in the kidney. Following chemo, he ended up with a blocked kidney stent, so that had to be replaced. Following the stent replacement, intense lower back pain started. An MRI revealed several bulging disks....and another lesion near his spine. Carl has been through about a dozen CT scans, weekly blood draws, bone scans, several biopsies...the list goes on. He is hoping to be strong enough to go forward with kidney surgery in the near future. Looking ahead, he will be starting immunotherapy with possible radiation for the lesion near his spine. He is a fighter....he wants to be here to see his grand daughters grow up. He wants to be here to watch his three sons continue to succeed in life. He wants to be around to enjoy his friends.
