Ryan Bailey's Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
Ryan was diagnosed with Berger’s Disease in July 2019 after a sudden onset of symptoms. Berger’s Disease is an autoimmune condition that impacts the kidneys’ ability to function effectively, ultimately leading to kidney failure. Ryan has been receiving medical treatment through Albany Medical Center over the past year and was advised shortly after the diagnosis that he would need a kidney transplant due to the severity of his condition.
Despite multiple medical procedures, several daily medications, and the efforts of his exceptional team of specialists in Albany, his condition has continued to worsen. Ryan currently receives daily peritoneal dialysis at home, from his fiancé, Alyssa Beach, and will continue to do so until he receives a transplant.
Ryan will undergo a live donor kidney transplant on October 19, 2020 at Albany Medical Center.
He is fortunate and thankful that his brother, Devin, has volunteered to be a donor and was found to be a match.
After a period of recovery, Ryan is looking forward to feeling better and resuming more normal daily activities. He will need to continue a strict medication regime and frequent trips to Albany for medical appointments and monitoring. Ongoing support of family and friends is needed more than ever, to help Ryan navigate through the surgery and tackle the ongoing challenge.
We would like to help offset expenses for medications, treatments, and travel for the family.
Patty’s Pub has generously agreed to host a social-distanced fundraiser from October 11-25th. Over two weeks there will be a Basket Drawing set up during normal business hours. On October 25th there will be a drive-thru Pulled Pork Dinner at noon until they are sold out. The drawing for the baskets will be on October 25th via Facebook Live prior to the dinner. Winners can arrange to pick up their baskets.
