Ryan Brewer

May 4th, 2022, a day that changed the life of the Brewer family forever. Ryan collapsed and seized during his shift at the hospital. Shortly after imaging, biopsy, and a craniotomy, we learned Ryan has a stage 4 glioblastoma. Glioblastomas are the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumor. The tumor is incurable and data provides a median survival of only 15 months. In the midst of Ryan’s diagnosis, he and Melissa welcomed their first baby, Jackson.

For the past 21 months, Ryan has received treatment at Duke Cancer Center for Brain Tumors, in North Carolina where treatment has included physical and occupational therapy, chemotherapy, radiation, frequent lab draws, imaging, prescription medications, and a clinical trial. Despite all the treatment, the brain tumor has prevailed and Ryan’s quality of life has not. Ryan has endured endless seizures, headaches, weakness, loss of gross motor function of his left side, a stroke, as well as gastrointestinal and respiratory infections. With that being said, Ryan has recently decided to pursue at home palliative care with treatment to manage his symptoms.

Throughout this journey, the Brewer family has only asked for prayers, words of encouragement, and time to spend with Ryan by watching his favorite films. It is finally time to create a GoFundMe to financially assist the Brewer family. Any donation will go directly towards medical bills, groceries, and sweet baby Jackson.

Let us pray.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, we come before you today, seeking your divine intervention for our dear brother, Ryan. You are the great physician, the healer of all diseases, and the restorer of life. Hold him in the palm of your hand and fill him with your healing power. Bestow on Ryan, Melissa, and Jackson peace that surpasses all understanding. Surround them with your love and comfort, giving them the strength to endure the physical, emotional, and spiritual challenges that come with cancer. Lord, we ask that you renew their hope, their faith, and their trust in you and that you remind them that they are not alone in this journey. Let them know that you are with them, guiding and leading them every step of the way. Let them know that we are with them. Love, your faithful servants.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.
