Ryan's Road to Recovery

Thank you so much for your generous contributions! We are so touched by the love and support from our friends and family!
Update: Ryan is still in the hospital but maintains high spirits, all things considered. The 2 surgeries on his left leg went well. He has at least 17 titanium pins in his leg. Results from an MRI of his right leg indicate that ligaments are torn but, no surgery is necessary. We were also advised that he only broke 8 of his 12 left ribs, not the full dozen. We don't yet have a discharge timeline or plan, they have discussed possibly transitioning him to an inpatient rehab facility before sending him home. Additionally, we finally received a copy of the police report. The driver that hit him did stop to render aid and he did have insurance. We are working with an attorney who specializes in cyclist accidents.
Hello, my name is Megan Campbell and I'm raising funds to support my brother, Ryan Campbell, in his recovery from a horrible accident.
On Monday, March 20th, Ryan was hit by a pick-up truck going 45 mph, broadside on his bicycle. He is in the hospital with a broken left tibia and fibula, damaged patella, all his ribs are broken on his left side. He has a broken left clavicle, slight brain bleeding, a cut to his kidney and spleen, damage to the ligaments in his right knee and a compression fracture between his L2 and L3 vertebrae. He is conscious and lucid with full recovery a long way off.
Ryan is a jovial, kind-hearted man who loves fishing, kayaking, and taking his dog on adventures. It will be a long time before he can enjoy any of those activities.
At the time of the accident, Ryan was commuting to a training program to obtain his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in pursuit of a new career path. He does not currently have health insurance, and we have not yet been able to obtain a police report to determine if the driver was insured to cover any medical expenses.
Funds raised will go towards medical expenses and ongoing life needs as he will be out of work for quite some time.
I will continue to update this post as we learn more about the accident and pending associated costs for care.
