Ryan Cate's Battle with Cancer
Donation protected
Cancer is a terrifying word. When diagnosed, it tends to impact families in unimaginable ways. It does not discriminate and affects people of all ages, races, backgrounds and lifestyles. Sometimes it finds those you’d least expect.
Ryan Cate has always been an avid Gamecocks fan and watches every game as a fellow Gamecock alumni. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his church along with hanging out with his family and friends.
In December 2018, cancer became a reality for Ryan Cate, his wife Stephanie and their children. After a trip to the hospital, he was given the tragic news of Adrenal Gland Adenocarcinoma.
For Ryan, the cancer diagnosis is just that, a diagnosis. It does not define him, and he continues to remain positive through it all. He remains strong and relies on the love that he has for his wife, family, and friends.
In early 2019, he underwent a surgery to remove one of his adrenal glands and kidney in hopes of removing all his cancer. After a few months of chemotherapy, Ryan received the gut punch that his cancer was spreading and spreading fast. Currently, his body is riddled with tumors throughout his abdominal cavity, his liver, and his gastrointestinal system. The cancer that he has is a very aggressive form and he is currently stage IV. Many chemotherapies have been attempted to obliterate this cancer and his oncologist and team of doctors are doing everything that they can to try and save his life.
After a year of countless chemotherapies and surgeries, the tumors in his abdomen continue to multiply. He endures week-long stays in and out of the hospital to try and fight this horrible cancer. He also goes back and forth to blood transfusions and doctor appointments every week in hopes that one of these appointments will ease the pain and discomfort that he is now so accustomed to feeling.
Ryan’s wife Stephanie is working a full-time job so that they can keep their house and pay for the lengthy medical bills that are accruing. Our dream would be for her to be able to stay home and spend time with her husband. With your support, we can make that happen. Please consider sending a donation to the Cate family to help with medical bills, food, and household bills while Ryan Cate battles this horrible cancer. We also want to thank family, friends, and co-workers who have graciously donated their time and efforts in helping the family already through meals, phone calls, and prayers. If you cannot donate, we urge you to continue to pray for Ryan Cate as he is a wonderful husband, dad, and friend that so many of us love.
