I am fundraising for Ryan Dunne' son Arthur. Ryan was a trainee adviser within my firm who was extremely talented, and driven to make a better life for him, Kate and his son Arthur (3). Ryan managed to complete his financial exams in six months, a record that is unlikely to be beaten in our office. Whilst at work one afternoon, a few days after this photo was taken, Ryan complained of a hamstring strain which didn't go away, jokingly associating this to his lack of fitness (which he was working on, to be an active dad and role model for Arthur). A few days later, Ryan was diagnosed with a very rare Sarcoma cancer. 14 rounds of chemotherapy and a major surgery later, Ryan was confident that the consultant's prediction that "he'd give up one year of his life, to save the rest of his life" was coming true.

A scan in February showed that the cancer had returned to Ryan's lungs, and despite huge efforts, the cancer eventually beat him in April 2024. Ryan was only 30, and was robbed of the life he was working so hard for, and Arthur was cruelly robbed of his Dad too.

I will be running the London Marathon on Sunday in memory of Ryan, who we will miss greatly. The funds raised will be used for a holiday for Arthur, who will spend time enjoying the memories he had with his Dad.
