Ryan Bennett Joiner, 29, of Gainesville, passed away June 22, 2022. Ryan, fought fiercely for over a decade against Mental Illness until his body could not fight anymore. We know that he has found peace and is now at rest without pain. Ryan was a beloved son, brother, friend, athlete, musician, student, and volunteer who touched so many with his genuine and caring spirit. His friendship, intellectual curiosity, athleticism, sense of humor, and deep compassion will not be forgotten. Ryan was known for his enormous heart and was passionate about helping others. In light of Ryan’s battle with mental illness and the sadness left in its wake, the Joiner family is creating the Ryan Joiner Foundation, dedicated to supporting those struggling with mental illness and their families by funding research, raising awareness, and providing a community of help. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions are made here and through the National Alliance on Mental Illness at https://namihall.org/get-involved/donate/.

Ryan was such a bright light in this world - please help us honor and continue his legacy!

**UPDATE**
The Ryan Joiner Foundation is now a 501c3 tax-exempt organization registered as Domestic-Not for Profit with the Georgia Secretary of State.
