Hi, my name is Lynn and I am raising funds to help Ryan and his family with bills or expenses as he navigates through his cancer journey.
Ryan is one of our 17 year old students at Orchard View High School who is a part of the wrestling and baseball teams. A tumor was accidentally discovered on Ryan’s brain and he was scheduled for surgery to have it removed. On May 18th he underwent surgery to remove the tumor. He suffered several complications post-op, where after he was extubated he began having seizures and passing out with episodes where he would stop breathing. He had to be intubated a second time. After being extubated the second time, he had complications with swallowing. He had a feeding tube through his nose and had difficulties tolerating feedings due to nausea and vomiting. His inability to swallow was thought to be a long term problem. He eventually received a g-tube in his stomach for feedings. He was finally released from the hospital and has been going to outpatient therapy. His follow up with the doctor revealed that his tumor was cancerous, it was labeled as a chordoma. He will need to now go to Detroit for 6 weeks of radiation. He is continuing to work with therapy to improve his ability to swallow.
Ryan and his family have started to experience a financial strain on things. A prolonged hospitalization and travel back and forth to the hospital and therapy and doctors appointments, and now having to go to Detroit for 6 weeks for radiation and any expenses related to that, in addition to normal expenses have all been contributing factors.
