Ryan's Chair
Donation protected
I am not one to do this kind of thing, but I often see different fundraisers for nonprofit groups for birthdays. So I guess if I had one wish and a charity to put it towards, I would like it to be for my nephew, Ryan. Ryan stopped breathing at his daycare when he was 3 months old. We almost lost him, but by the grace of God, he lived. He suffered brain damage from a lack of oxygen, has no muscle movement, no ability to speak, feeding tube and multiple seizures a day. The doctors stated that he would not live but 8-10 years, well....he has shown them! He is now 11, last year in October the doctors gave him 2 years to live. He struggles with his respiration and his little body is getting tired, eventually, it will give out. Once again, this little man has beaten the odds and THIS October will be his 2-year mark of this prediction. He has a STRONG will to be in this world. His medical care is high with needs, but his parents have managed. He requires 24-hour care so my brother stays home with him. What this request is for is not for medical expenses, but for a chair that Ryan spends most of his day in. The cushion has become worn down. It is an expensive chair/cushion but is able to be angled just right for Ryan (he has to be suctioned with a tube so he does not aspirate). He has had this little chair since he was a couple of years old and he has now outgrown it and worn the cushion out (not to mention he is growing like a little weed! ;) ). This is what my Birthday wish is; my charity-for my nephew.
