Ryan's Heroes

Donation protected

Hi, My name is Jamie Kessler and I am Ryan Walsh's aunt. As many of you know, Ryan and one of his best friends, Ben Dewberry, were passengers in a very serious automobile accident on August 3rd. Ben is still in critical condition in the ICU at Christiana Hospital. Ryan spent time in the Critical Care ICU and has since been moved to Trauma ICU (step down) as his medical needs differ from Ben's.

Ryan still has broken bones in his neck, back, and ribcage. His most significant injury is the brain. They call it DAI which means the brain shook violently in his head causing injuries to multiple areas. We have been told that his brain injuries are in the threads that are between the 2 hemispheres of his brain (the threads stretched out, some have torn, and need to go back together like a rubber band) and injury to his frontal lobe. His rehabilitation will be long, as there is no definitive timeline for brain healing. Ryan's next step is to an inpatient rehabilitation facility. We do not know how long he will need to be there.

While Ryan is in the hospital, inpatient rehab, and intensive outpatient rehab, he needs all the help we can give him. All proceeds will go directly to Ryan to help pay for medical bills, rent, insurance, utilities, etc. We all know that he has a long road ahead of him and will not be able to work for quite some time. Please consider any monetary donation to help Ryan while he is fighting one of the hardest battles of his life. We appreciate all of the love and support through this incredibly difficult time.
