Ryedale Volunteer Network

We’re raising funds to build a more resilient community support network across Ryedale and need your help.

We need to ensure we can provide logistics support to those with needs caused by the challenges of Coronavirus. Our next steps are to raise funds to continue to deliver much needed food to the food banks and other supporting outlets in the area, the creation of community kitchens in key locations, and other general costs.

The Ryedale Volunteer Network was set up in March 2019 to help individuals, villages, and towns look out for and support their communities during this coronavirus emergency and help to put projects in place to help as many people in need as possible within safe guidelines

Currently, within this network, there are 28 groups working in 31 towns and villages across Ryedale, with over 500 direct volunteers signed up directly and buddied up to their organisers in their local area.

Between us all, we have created a resilient network that is working and will be linked in with the district Community Support Organisation (CSO). The CSO has been set up by the partner authorities so that we can all work together to deliver the safest and best possible support.

The initial activity and response to our communities’ needs at the beginning of this unprecedented situation has put us all well ahead in providing support. We are in a very strong position to respond if the situation worsens in this area.  Let's hope it doesn't.

Where possible we are working in a mutually beneficial way with similar volunteer groups, parishes, town councils, businesses, charities, and the local authority by sharing knowledge and support, and best practice to as many people as possible and offering strategic support to the Community Support Organisation.

The next stage is to build an even more resilient community support network and be in a position to identify, design and deliver the necessary projects needed to help even more people across Ryedale.

We cannot emphasise enough how much it is appreciated that people have made themselves available to help.

We would like to share this feedback with you from the Community Support Organisation.

‘We are humbled by what you are achieving out there… it’s been a difficult couple of weeks figuring out where everyone fits together BUT the main ‘prize’ is that we have helped and supported people in need and those who are anxious…’

‘Stronger together in our combined skills and resources!’

Please help us, help Ryedale.

All donations are paid directly into the Ryedale Volunteer Network bank account. Any donations left after the emergency is over will be used to continue community support into the future.
