Portable Oxygen Concentrator for Mom
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Shannon. My mom, Joanne Bell, has been struggling with COPD. Recently, she has had two hospital stays in the last couple of months. She now requires oxygen 24/7. COPD is a chronic, lifelong disease, and it will never go away.
She doesn't have insurance at the moment and won't qualify for prescription coverage through Medicare until February. She is currently paying out of pocket for an at-home oxygen concentrator and large tanks for doctor's visits outside of the home. The tanks are helpful but incredibly limiting on what she can do and where she can go, day-to-day. I know she hates to sit at home, and I know her mental health is taking a hit because she is confined to the home.
We would like to buy her a portable oxygen concentrator, which can last on a rechargeable battery for several hours. This would give her the freedom and independence I know she desperately misses having. Unfortunately, they often cost upwards of $2000. Because she requires up to 6 liters of oxygen per minute while walking, we are asking for $3000 to help get her a machine that can actually accomplish that.
