**Update**
Todd recently had a follow up CT Scan and found out the cancer has spread. He has now been diagnosed with Stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma and will start chemotherapy in early October. Because of the chemotherapy and many doctors appointments and decreased immune system, he had to go on full disability from work. Any way you can support the family is greatly appreciated. ❤️

A group of family and friends are raising money for the wonderful Pettit Family.
Six weeks ago Todd underwent surgery to remove a large cancerous tumor (rare stage 2 leiomyosarcoma) in his lower abdomen. During the surgery he had a critical mass blood event resulting in a loss of 7 liters of blood. The blood loss affected his kidneys and his left leg. Once his artery was repaired by bypass in surgery, the increase in pressure in his left leg resulted in 2 double fasciotomies in his lower leg. Two days later, the pressure in his leg continued to increase resulting in an emergency surgery to perform a double fasciotomy on his upper left leg. He has no feeling below his left knee and has 3 wound vacs over his open wounds to help remove the excess fluid. His kidneys suffered acute kidney injuries due to the loss of blood during his first surgery. He eventually needed to start dialysis because of the injury to his kidneys. His third surgery was for a port placement for dialysis. He had dialysis for a little over 2 weeks before his kidneys finally started working again. We are so thankful that they finally started to work! His fourth surgery was to remove blood clots that formed in his vein in his left leg because he developed a reaction to the blood thinner he was given. They also re-routed a vein from his right leg to his left leg to aid in blood flow and healing process.
He was in the hospital for 4 weeks and had a total of 4 surgical procedures during his stay. We are happy to say that he is now in acute rehab with extensive PT and OT treatment every day. He still has the open wounds with the wound vacs on his leg, but is still able to participate in PT/OT exercises. He is getting stronger every day, which is a blessing.
There will eventually be several surgeries to close and graft the wounds on his legs once the swelling subsides.
He has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
His wife, Stephanie, has been traveling back and forth almost every day from their home in Dayton to Fairview Hospital Minneapolis along with working and taking care of their family.
We would love to help lift some of the financial burden off their shoulders so they can focus on healing and getting back to living life to the fullest. ❤️
