FINALLY ADOPTION ON THE HORIZON
We are the Brown family: Geoffrey, Julie, Keagan, and Sam.
Well, technically we will all be the Brown family on Thursday, August 1st, when we make an appearance at the local courthouse for adoption finalization. I am asking if you will help us make this a big celebration.
The boys' story with me (Julie) began on September 26, 2012 and has been slowly unfolding with many twists and turns in the intervening years. When they first came to live with me, Keagan (left) and Sam (right) were in 1st grade and Pre-K. In less that two weeks they will both be in Middle School, grades 8 and 6, respectively.

When we retell the story of our first night together I ask them what I told them before bed and they can recite in unison "You said you would take care of us forever!" Well, we have not reached forever yet, but we have definitely reached a major milestone after 2500 days.
Those of you who know us and our story already know that in 2015 our family unit was made complete when I married Geoffrey Ian Brown on May 3 of that year. When Geoffrey and I met, courtesy of Match.com, one of the things that attracted him to me was my commitment to Sam and Keagan. I feel quite certain that he did not know exactly what he was getting into after raising three grown daughters -- but I am glad that early love can have both clarity and blindness.

So here we are on the cusp of adoption.
We have been meandering a maze of red tape and jumping through a host of hoops. We kind of feel like we outlasted the system. We had some wonderful social workers and adoption specialists, but we also had more than our fair share of unpleasantness with bureaucracy. Until a month ago, we had never had any strong sense that the adoption was imminent. And just yesterday afternoon we received word from the attorney that we have a court date. Wow, what a rush of emotions that brought!!
It is time to celebrate this long awaited establishment of Sam and Keagan's forever home with the Brown family.
The boys have expressed two wishes: a family Honeymoon and redecorated bedrooms.
We don't have a lot of time before school starts, but we think we can just squeeze both of these in in the next 12 days.
It would mean the world to all of us if you would consider helping us make those wishes come true.
We could not have made it this far with out the support of so many of you. Thank you for standing with us.

We are truly blessed and grateful,
Geoffrey Ian Brown
Julie Ray Brown
Michael Ian "Keagan" Brown
