KELLY'S HEALING JOURNEY #helphealkelly
Meet Kelly our 35 year old charismatic, bubbly, faithfully loyal sister, daughter, friend and dedicated mother.
She is this and so much more to our family, and to think we almost lost her is a tragedy that is hard to come to terms with even today. She’s in recovery from an event we don’t even quite understand. All we know is that she was with us one day and didn’t wake up the next. At the hospital it was discovered that she had pneumonia with her vital organs failing resulting in the need for life support.
Kelly has always been the lively heartbeat of our family with her brash and honest humor, yet balanced with such compassion and empathy for everyone. Even when she was clearly struggling as a single mother trying to make ends meet, it wasn’t uncommon for her to give to the poor or bring clothes to a homeless woman all while engaging in deep conversation about life with that woman who she viewed as a human who needed help more than she did. You can’t meet Kelly without sensing these qualities from the very first interaction with her. Somehow, you just can’t quite get enough of her brutally honest, fun loving passion for life! Which is why it was so startling to all of us who love her when we got the call that she was fighting for her life in the ICU.
While we don’t quite understand what landed her in the ICU for two months, we do know that her recovery from this event requires careful planning and management to prevent future episodes and to ensure that her organs recover.
She has a very long road of rehabilitation ahead involving: physical therapy to help with her motor skills, careful monitoring of her vital organs, and a lifestyle that bolsters health. While her medical team can handle the therapy and monitoring, her wellness lifestyle requirements far exceed her abilities financially.
Our goals for her recovery will require a nutritionist/health coach, costly dietary modifications, supplements, metabolic testing and the guidance of practitioners who understand the consequences such a lengthy stay in the ICU carries for the body long term…all of which won’t be covered by insurance, but are essential to her healing journey. For those who understand the role health plays in recovery, you may also know how expensive this can be. The thought of Kelly’s recovery being hindered by the financial commitment it requires is incomprehensible.
As a single mother with zero income, she is at the mercy of what her family and friends can do to help her bridge this gap between tragedy and recovery. It’s a huge burden, and one that no single person can bear alone, however, with the help of friends AND family, we can ensure that Kelly receives the best assistance we can afford, together!
Her 5 year old daughter’s only wish is to be reunited with her mother. In order for that to happen, we have a big job ahead of us. We anticipate seeing Kelly’s health and vibrance return, in fact, we are hoping she can even exceed all of our expectations and go on to help others with her experience and unrelenting compassion.
Thank you for considering contributing to her daughter’s future by supporting the one person she needs most, her mother!
