My name is Karen Necaise, my husband, Dale, was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Multiform Grade 4 Brain Tumor. In the blink of an eye, our entire life has been forever changed. He has undergone 2 craniotomies, endured the standard care of Chemo and radiation, which is the only form of treatment for this tumor with no cure. It is heartbreaking to watch my husband go through all of this and there’s is nothing I can do to help except Love him and give him the best care. I am and will be at his side every step of this journey. Those treatments brought him sooo close to death. He has had to have numerous units of platelets and blood. We travel back and forth to the Robert Preston Tische Brain Tumor Center at Duke in Durham, NC every 2 months for his primary care. With the option of chemo off the table Duke always have a plan., they prescribed a device called the Optune. It’s a magnetic device in which he wears on his head, strategically placed. It creates a magnetic field to interrupt the communication of the cancer cells and the dna so it can’t divide and reproduce. It’s cost is $21,500 per month. Insurance covers $17,500 of that. Additionally, he receives infusions at our local hospital in Gulfport, MS every 2 weeks and follows up with our local Oncologist on the months he’s not at Duke. Our COBRA Insurance cost is outrageous. The medical costs as well as travel expenses are devastating and overwhelming. I know there are angels among us as angels have gotten us this far. No matter how this turns out, we are blessed and serve an all powerful and Loving God. Thank you in advance for any generosity.
