The Marco (Gig em92) medical fund

(Note: Marco is a longtime member of AggieYell.com and a member of the class of 1992. He's not only fighting stage 4 colon cancer, but the costs that come with that fight. We'd like to help defray those costs and let his family enjoy their time with him without worrying. Here's his story in his own words.)

Thank you for taking the time to look at this campaign.  It’s hard to believe that just five months ago I was just a normal every day husband and father.  My days were filled with going to work, coaching my kids, watching football, taking my wife out on date nights, and playing golf.  In the course of just a few hours my normal changed to metastatic stage four-colon cancer. 

My children are in first grade and pre-K and my wife is a stay at home mom.  My cancer was discovered suddenly.  One night I had trouble sleeping and my stomach hurt.  My wife made me see a doctor when I wanted to blow it off.  He took an x-ray and then immediately sent me to the emergency room.  My CT scan showed a tumor and nodes already in my lungs.    Four days later they removed 9 inches of colon, several polyps, 30 lymph nodes, and I was informed that my cancer had already spread to my liver, lungs and lymph nodes.  I am 46 years old and statistically have a 15% chance to make it to year five.  I am a fighter and my lovely wife and my seven year old boy and five year old girl are depending on that.  This fund will help with my medical bills, children’s college fund, and possibly buy my wife some time to find a new career after I am gone.  I was counting on being able to contribute for another 20 years, and with some luck, God, and/or a medical break-through I still may.  But we cannot simply depend on hope.  So until then, I am going through chemotherapy, being the best father and husband I can be and fighting the good fight.  Thank you for your attention.
