Gooniyandi Goornboo - No Soft Drink August
Donation protected
We are Gooniyandi women, playing footy and bringing our community together.
To raise money to support our club, the women of our team are pledging to give up drinking soft drink for the ENTIRE MONTH OF AUGUST.
In a remote community like ours, this isn’t easy because soft drinks are a huge part of our diet. It will be a challenge! But we know that if we can do it, we’ll have:
- better health for us and for our kids
- weight loss
- and hopefully lots of money for our footy club!
Two months ago we started training on our rocky dirt oval at sunset, with some footys we borrowed from the Yiyili School. There have been a lot of laughs while our kids run around and join in and our community turns out to support us.
We want to have fun, be fit and be part of a team.
We travel 120kms from our community to play a game. We’ve had a couple of scratch matches so far, no wins on the board…yet.
We are fundraising for a uniform we can wear with pride to represent our team. In our team pic we have borrowed the men's jumpers, but they are not a great fit! If we raise enough for our jumpers, we’ll use any additional funds for training equipment and to assist us with travel costs.
We are strong Gooniyandi women. Changing habits and changing lives, for us and for our kids.
