Wishes for Waylon

On January 24th 2023 the unthinkable happened, 20 month old Waylon fell into an outdoor pool at a home daycare in Petrolia, Ontario. He was under for approximately 5 minutes before he was pulled out of the pool. He was rushed to the local hospital where the ER team performed compressions for over four hours, finally regaining a heartbeat in his little body. He was then taken to London Victoria Hospital where they are better equipped to care for him. He was immediately put on a ventilator while his Mom and Dad (Gillian Burnett& Garth Saunders) were told to wait out the night. Waylon is a little fighter - against many odds he survived the night. He was then put into a medically induced coma to ensure that his frail body is relaxed while his body fights for his life.

His Mom and Dad remain at Victoria hospital never leaving his side. They are both working parents who give everything they have to their children. Luckily there are family and friends nearby who, despite the inclement weather have been able to make the trip to the hospital to provide them with some basic needs such as clothes and toiletries. Although we know Waylon is the strongest 20 month old out there, it is still impossible for doctors to predict the outcome. Yet, we all know that whatever the outcome, the road ahead is going to be a long one. We all wish that Waylon pulls through this, he is going to require an extraordinary amount of extra care, which his amazing parents will give him at the sacrifice of themselves. We are reaching out to friends and the community as we hope to ease some of the burden on these wonderful parents in such a tragic circumstances.

Waylon is an amazing little boy who started walking early so he could keep up with his big sister. He has a contagious laugh that lights up the whole household and makes it impossible not to laugh with him. He has an infectious curiosity for everything around him and dearly loves his mum and dad.

All donations to Wishes for Waylon will go to Gillian and Garth to help with any expenses (hotels/parking/food/gas ect.)

We are beyond thankful for the amazing teams of doctors and nurses at both hospitals and we thank all of you for anything you can do to help, we are praying for Waylons recovery.
