The Family of Joseph Agada Ejeh Seek Transparency into the Investigation of the Death of 44 Year old Joseph, son and brother, at the Hands of the Bellevue Police Department.
Joseph was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was full of life and had the heartiest and most infectious laugh. He loved adventure and found joy in working out. He loved to read and play video games. He was also a deep thinker and loved by his friends and family. He was generous and giving and went out of his way to help those in need.
Joseph came to the United States for a better life, the American dream and he was getting there before his life was abruptly ended by the very people meant to protect him. This loss has devastated our family, especially his mother, our family is forever scarred by this senseless tragedy.
On the night of December 5, 2023, our brother, Joseph Agada Ejeh, was slain in cold blood at the hands of a Bellevue police officer in Bellevue, WA. This horrific incident was brought to our attention by the King County Sheriff’s Office, seven days after the incident actually took place.
Media reports state that at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, officers responded to a report of a man - our dear Joseph - walking around the Kelsey Creek Center parking lot in the 15500 block of Main Street with a knife out, and was shot multiple times by the officer, killing our brother.
As a family, knowing who Joseph was, the reported actions and circumstances of his death are very much at odds with who we knew him to be. He worked at Allied Universal amongst other companies before his passing. Joseph was an IT specialist in Nigeria and the US who left tech companies to start a business helping everyday people with web development.
The medical examiner initially refused to release Joseph’s personal belongings, including his wallet and phone without explanation to us, causing more unnecessary stress and harm. Joseph’s social media accounts were also tampered with after his death, and the fact that we were informed a week after the shooting adds to the agony and cloud of mystery surrounding the death of Joseph.
Currently the Independent Force Investigative Team - King County is refusing to release the names of all the officers involved in the shooting, denying us the transparency we deserve. Therefore, we are calling on the Independent Force Investigative Team - King County to release the names of the officers involved and all other evidence to show us exactly what happened.
At this point, we’re just trying to get the truth.
We are calling on the global community to unite with us to help cover private investigation, attorney, travel, burial, funeral, and all other expenses related to our fight for justice for Joseph.
