Emergency engine replacement

Last week I took the Jeep in for an oil change and to have a knocking noise looked in to. After running a bunch of tests to make sure it wasn't something easily fixable, they informed me that the knocking noise was rod bearings failing which is a death knell for the engine. Joy.
They detailed the situation and advised I replace the engine ASAP. Obviously, I didn't have the five thousand dollars they quoted me on hand, so I had a friend take me to CarMax to see what they would offer for a trade-in vs the loan already on the Jeep.
Trading it in as is would drop it's value down several thousand dollars and getting a new car would bump my monthly payment up to more than I can possibly afford every month.
So, the only option available is to replace the engine. The Jeep is my only means of transportation to work, the doctor and client appointments and using Lyft to get into the city is getting prohibitively expensive.
This is beyond humiliating but I really have no other option at this point so, here we are.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this and if nothing else, send good vibes.
