Help a Single Mom and Daughter Avoid Homelessness
Donation protected
I'm a single mother of a brilliant daughter in high school and we are facing homelessness.
I was in the healthcare revenue cycle/medical billing field for years and recently was laid off. While trying to find a new position in the field, I've been working retail and driving for Lyft/Uber. Between the two jobs, working 50-60 hours per week. Still, it wasn't enough, and I got behind on rent and utilities.
Three weeks ago, my car was hit by a hit-and-run driver, and I haven't been able to drive for Lyft/Uber while I'm waiting for it to get fixed. In the meantime, my landlord has decided not to work with me on getting caught up and has filed with the county for eviction.
My daughter and I have no family and no support. We have literally nowhere to go and no way to earn enough in the short time before I'm evicted to find a new place. Rental assistance agencies aren't accepting applications; I've tried them all. I'm facing first and last month's rent and a deposit on a new place, moving costs, a storage unit, and repairs to my car.
I know this is a shot in the dark, but if anyone can help at all, it would mean the world. I'm not one to ask for help, which I probably should have before now, but I'm desperate. Thank you for reading and sharing if you can...
