Chrissy Turpin is one of the most dedicated teachers at East Hamilton. She is one who genuinely cares about her students and their successes and failures, not just as they pertain to the classroom but beyond that in their everyday lives. She believes in teaching students not only her designated subject (Spanish) but also teaching students responsibility and citizenship.
On top of her teaching skills, Chrissy is an excellent colleague and friend. She is enthusiastic, sarcastic and downright funny. Whenever you are having a bad day, you can count on Chrissy to be a shoulder to lean and cry on, as well as a strong support system (even in her weakest moments). She is an outstanding mother to a gorgeous and mature kindergartener, Declan. They enjoy the outdoors and spending quality time together.
Most incredibly, Chrissy has been down the path of the dreaded, awful cancer before. At that time, she underwent radiation treatment and thankfully went into remission. During this whole process, you would not hear her complain, she rarely missed school, and she was still such a strong beacon at East Hamilton.
Now, we need to band together in support of Chrissy Turpin, as the cancer has returned, and the treatments this time around are going to be much more intense and all consuming. With FMLA as it is in the school system, as well as the set up of sick days, Chrissy is going to need some financial support to cover expenses during her potential 6 months off of work. I know I set the goal high, but keep in mind what medical expenses for chemotherapy are, as well as everyday needs for a family-it adds up quickly, and once sick leave runs out, so do those pay checks!!
ANY little bit helps and is greatly appreciated. I assure you that if any cause is a worthy one, this one certainly is! Chrissy has had such a tough year already with the loss of her mother and now this. Let's show her that she is not alone and CAN and WILL get past this, too. Ironically, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month-so let's not only show our support by wearing pink, let's help someone in need.
