Sadaqah jaariya(charity) on behalf of Farisa Navab

Donation protected

Every penny donated to this cause will go towards building water pumps and aiding orphanages in countries in need - all in the name of Farisa Navab.

At the young age of 20, sister, daughter, and friend Farisa Navab passed away on September 11, 2021.

Farisa was diagnosed with TTP one week before her unexpected death. Before this, she was an extremely healthy individual, a prospering Biological Science major at the University of Guelph.

Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura- TTP is an extremely rare (three in one million) blood disorder which occurs when the body produces antibodies that block the activity of the ADAMTS13 enzyme- an enzyme that is crucial to the regulation of platelets in blood.

A low platelet count results in the formation of blood clots. Farisa’s platelet count was dangerously low when she was transferred from Cambridge Memorial Hospital to Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario.

Farisa underwent plasmapheresis for one week. Her platelet count improved, then significantly dropped which resulted in two cardiac arrests. Blood clots in the brain and heart stopped her organ activity. This ultimately led to her tragic demise.

Before Farisa passed away, she hoped to do one thing: leave an impact on the world. Farisa cared about others more than she could ever care about herself. Even when she was in pain, sitting for long days in her hospital bed, she still smiled at each of us and made sure we wouldn't worry or cry. The love she had for everyone was undeniable and extremely strong. Farisa left memories with people she had only met once; her presence pierced into the core of their hearts. Farisa never held grudges, and her biggest dream was to have a happy heart and to live without regrets. Farisa did just that, and exceeded her own expectations. Farisa lived her life believing that one day, she will leave footprints and shadows behind for us to follow. Farisa was ambitious, determined, industrious, iron-willed, and a person who forever seeked a distant goal. To pray for Farisa, is to pray for a better world.

Farisa believed in the uncertainty of times. The love she had for her loved ones was beautiful. To grieve is to grow, outwards and inwards. To keep Farisa’s presence alive, and her dream to be fulfilled, we believe in the strength of kindness, hope, and love despite our differences.

Organized by Ammarah, Afnan, Osama, and Habibah, we aim to raise awareness for TTP and fulfill Farisa’s dream by sending proceeds towards the building of wells and aiding in orphanages in countries where basic life necessities are scarce.
