Hi, my name is Sandra Garner Coleman, Board President of SHSRP (Sabine High School Revitalization Project) Management Group, Inc. Please help us save Sabine High School! Please donate generously to transform the campus of Sabine High School and CREATE a BEACON for the MANY COMMUNITY! Calling all Alumni, Friends, Citizens and Volunteers to join the "Beacon Brigade" and revitalize the campus of Sabine High School in Many, Louisiana! This gem in the northwestern region of Louisiana has a rich cultural heritage...but a poor facade that needs an investment of $3.5M to renovate and bring back as a cultural Beacon of Hope for the citizens--the youth--of this Region.
Will you help Save Sabine High School?
Let's look at how the Sabine School campus was formerly a beacon for the community...and can return again as a Beacon of Hope:
1958-1970: Sabine School was the educational center for African American students in grades 1 to 12.
1970-2001: Sabine School housed Many Junior High School.
2001: The Beacon was left to deteriorate...for 20 years.
2020: The Sabine School was declared a historical site by the U.S. Department of Interior and listed on the National Register.
2021: A group of Alumni, Family, and Friends of Sabine High School formed a corporation entitled SHSRP Management Group, Inc. to assume the task of revitalizing the campus of Sabine High School for community use. The newly management group is working to repurpose the campus of Sabine High School for community use in the following areas:
- Create a RECREATIONAL CENTER for youth/seniors/community
- Provide AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING
- Provide DAYCARE for before/after school
- Produce FINE ART CLASSES and activities
- Develop partnerships with MEDICAL FACILITIES within an eighty miles radius to address health care issues
- Provide JOB TRAINING to address the unemployment rate of 10%--four percentage points above the state's average (Alice Report, 2020)
- Memorialize and Celebrate the rich HISTORY created by Sabine High School from Pre-1958 to 1970.
SABINE HIGH SCHOOL needs to be restored to become an essential venue for Sabine Parish. Local resources are slim to nil. The level of poverty is slightly above 50%; income growth is constrained due to low hourly wages, and job growth is concentrated in low-wage jobs. In Sabine Parish, the cost of living exceeds the availability of income (Alice Report, 2020)
If you have benefited at any time in the history of the Sabine High School or see the HOPE of benefitiing from its transformation to an important Community Center-- a BEACON of HOPE, please help us with a generous tax-deductible donation made to SHSRP Management Group, Inc. a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizaiton.
