Sabrina Barratt's Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Anyone that knows Sabrina Barratt would tell you she is a giver and is as fierce as they come about things she is passionate about.  Her passions include her family, friends, patients and community.  She gives when needed and often above and beyond expectations.  She has supported, cared for and helped so many in our community and when it came time for her to need help she was very hesitant to agree.  We have convinced her it is okay to be on the receiving end and we hope you will consider blessing this family as much as they have blessed others.  #SabrinaStrongHere is the background of her cancer fight:

Mid May, started having back pain. This could easily be explained by the full house remodel they were currently completing and the many hours of work being put in painting at that time. Sabrina saw her provider, did a medrol dose pak (steroid pack) this only helped some.

End of July the pain was still there.  She had X-rays of her back completed. Those were normal. Consulted with physical therapy and started at home exercises. Again these did not help much, completed 8 weeks of PT.

Beginning of Oct. P.T. was completed, pain remained, went back to doctor. An MRI and blood work were completed. These all came out normal. The plan was to have a CT of the abd/pelvis completed since the pain continued. Before that could happen, COVID happened. Once quarantine was done then the scan was done on Oct. 30th.

On Nov. 3rd, results were received. The. CT showed, thickening of the bowel at the rectosigmoid junction - suspicious for neoplastic process. It appears there maybe presacral extension for local metastasis. The liver has multiple hypodense lesions suspicious of neoplastic process.

On Nov. 6th - a colonoscopy was completed. The mass is located 20 cm up the colon. Biopsy was completed and the doctor reported he is 98% sure the pathology results will report back as CA. A chest CT was completed to see if any other areas of CA were identified. Praise the Lord they were not. Blood work was completed at this appt. also.

Most recent update on 2/12:  We are headed home from TX. Driving straight through so we don't get stuck in the snow coming for Houston and at home.
Before we left today I had one last scan. This time they laid me on my stomach and scanned me. Then they placed markers at my hips and tailbone and scanned me again. Lastly, they tattooed three small dots, one on each hip area and one at the tail bone area. This is so they have pin point marker for radiation, and will make a mold that will be placed around my midsection and hips for the radiation.

Next Sunday we will head back down to Houston. Starting Monday Feb. 22nd, I will have 5 days of radiation. M-F, with labs and doctors appts. scattered through out. We will then return home for 1 week.

On March 7th we will return to Houston for approx 15 days. I will have several pre-op test March 8th, March 9th I will have a small output procedure to place a marker in my liver at the smaller tumor so they can make sure to find and remove it (the liver is very vascular, lots of blood, things can get obscured)

Surgery on my liver March 10th. We are praying we can do the colon surgery then too. All depends how successful radiation is and if we get enough decrease it size to get a clean margin or we have to wait longer. If it's a wait on colon, then we do surgery in 2 months.

Sabrina has completed 4 rounds of chemo and will complete 8 more rounds after surgery.
