Saco Community Food Assistance
Donation protected
Due to COVID-19 creating economic hardships in the state of Maine and the U.S. as a whole people in our community are struggling more than ever. There is relief for them as far as housing insecurity, utility shutoffs, among others. What I have seen more than anything else are requests for food assistance. Many food pantries are shutting down or severely limiting their hours due to the pandemic, and adding to this the food hoarding some are committing, access to food is becoming a serious concern.
I began a small outreach, offering food at my property and due to the outpouring of support and the demand for these items I am seeing I created this fundraiser for people that want to help purchase essentials for those who do not have access to them. All money will go towards the purchase of items for those in the Saco/Biddeford area, or surrounding towns. When the world slows and everything calms and the pantries are more readily available again any remaining money or food will be donated to local food pantries in the area.
