Sadaqah Jariyah for Abeera Shahid

On Dec 19th, we lost our beloved sister, Abeera Shahid.

Abeera Shahid was currently a MD Candidate at the University of Ottawa. She graduated from the Bachelor of Health Sciences program, specializing in Global Health, as a Loran Scholar at McMaster University. We are so proud of all her achievements!

Abeera was also involved in various community programs and always wanted to help others and the community. She went into healthcare wanting to improve the system. She also loved to travel, blog, and hike in her spare time.

She was the light in all our eyes and a precious daughter, sister, and friend to many. Our family is grateful for all the support we have received during this difficult time.

Sadaqah Jariyah is a gift that not only benefits others in this life but also benefits us and our loved ones in the next. This hadith perfectly describes the concept of sadaqah Jariyah.

The prophet Muhammed (SAW) said: “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three; a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge and a righteous child who prays for them."

Thus, we aim to eternize Abeera's deeds by providing education to others.
