Saddharaja rides the Utah 600 for Triratna Kolkata

A tough but spectacular ride through the state of Utah!

In April 2024, the indefatigable Saddharaja will be embarking on another challenging cycle ride to raise funds for the further development of Triratna Buddhist activities in West Bengal. This will build on the funds raised by Saddharaja's previous two rides (Land's End to Shrewsbury in 2021 and Shrewsbury to Inverness in 2022), further supporting activities the Kolkata team have established in North Kolkata (Palta), Kalyani and Bagula. This time he will be accompanied by Abhayanaga, who is 50, lives in Missoula, Montana, and is embarking on his first big cycle fundraising adventure. The 12-day ride will take Saddharaja to the US, and cover around 650 miles of the Utah countryside. Together, they will travel through mountains, deserts and three National Parks, including Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley, climbing just over 3000 feet in the process! They will cycle on gravel bikes, which are designed for use on rough terrain. They are supported by Abhayanaga's wife, Shuddhabha. Their ambitious target is to raise £22,000 before closing fundraising. A 5% share of the funds raised will be donated to Arthritis Action, a UK charity. The rest will support the dedicated work of the two experienced Dharma workers, Nagamitra and Nityashri. Adityabodhi and Maitridasa are also periodically working for this mission in West Bengal.
